The Department of State Policy and Legal Regulation in the Sphere of Education

The Department of State Policy and Legal Regulation in the Sphere of Education is a structural unit of the MES of Russia.

The principal areas of authority of the Department of State Policy and Legal Regulation in the Sphere of Education are as follows:

the co-ordination and control of the work of the Federal Service of Supervision in the Field of Education and Science, and the Federal Education Agency in the sphere of legal regulatory activities;

the development of proposals relating to forming state policy in the field of education, the determination of priority areas of focus for the development of education;

the generalization of the practice of applying Russian legislation in the sphere of education as well as the development of proposals for its improvement;

the preparation of drafts of regulatory legal acts in the field of education;

the preparation of proposals relating to the remuneration and labour regulations of workers in the educational sphere. The establishment of qualifying indices and requirements for the different workers in the educational sphere;

the arrangement of an examination of textbooks in order to make decisions regarding their use in the educational process;

the preparation of proposals for the development of the state national educational policy and the state lingual policy in the sphere of ethnical cultural and additional education in order to ensure that there is a unified educational space and the consolidation of a multinational and multi-confessional Russian society.

The Department of State Policy and Legal Regulation in the Sphere of Education is headed by a Director who is appointed and dismissed by the Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
