The Department of Policy Concerning Youth, Education and the Social Protection of Children is a structural unit of the MES of Russia.

The principal authorities of the Department of the policy Concerning Youth, Education and the Social protection of children are as follows:

the development of proposals for forming a state policy in the sphere of state youth policy, education, tutorship and guardianship of children, psychological and educational support, social and educational support, social and legal protection of students and pupils of educational institutions, special education and additional education of children;

the development of drafts of regulatory legal acts that establish a procedure for the fostering of children to citizens left without parental care, including adoption;

the development and implementation of a system of measures for protecting the rights and legal interests of children and youths, their education, the prevention of child neglect, violations of the law, drug addiction and HIV/AIDS among children and youths, their psychological and educational support, social and educational support and social and legal protection;

the development and implementation of a system of measures for supporting talented children and youths, an efficient system of services and institutions for teenagers and youths, the development of a healthy way of life amongst children and youths, and the development of student and youth sports;

the creation of the legal conditions for solving the social, financial and housing problems of young citizens, students activities during vacation (relaxation, invigoration and seasonal employment) and the development of a family and demographical policy.

The Department of the Police Concerning Youth, Education and the Social Protection of Children is headed by a Director appointed and dismissed by the Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
