The contest of innovative educational programs of general educational institutions is conducted within the Priority National Project 'Education'. This area of focus of the National Project stipulates the annual state support of general education institutions which introduce such innovative educational programs; to the amount of 1 million rubles to each institution. The state support is effected from the funds of the Federal Budget to the amount of 3 billion rubles.

State support funds are directed towards the acquisition of laboratory equipment, program and methodic software, the modernization of the physical infrastructure, the raising of the level of teacher skills and the retraining of teachers in general educational institutions.

The contest selection is carried out on all subjects of the Russian Federation by specially established contest committees with the participation of parents, graduate associations, professional employer associations, newsmen, experts on the issues of general education, Councils of Heads of Universities, Heads of institutions of primary and secondary professional education, trade unions of workers of popular schooling and science and other public organizations.
