Winners of the "PRO-education" contest among media agencies receive awards
The awarding ceremony "PRO-education - 2011" was held on 25 November 2011. The ceremony started with the remarks by Minister of Education and Science Andrei Fursenko. He extended gratitude to journalists for their persistent work in reporting on education and science issues and wished professional growth and new gains. "I believe this contest gathers sincere, involved and professional people, and the thing that they sometimes lash out at shortcomings and problems in the education system helps us to move forward," the minister pointed out.
This year the contest involved 74 agencies and over 200 journalists from 54 Russian regions. They submitted a total of 339 bids. Among the participants there are the leading federal agencies representing media of all levels and types (printed, network, electronic news sources). Journalists and contributing teams of the Central and Volga Federal Districts proved to be the most active (94 and 78 bids). As usual, "The best works on modernization of general education" appeared to be the most popular nomination (96 works).
The distinguishing feature of the "PRO Education - 2011" is the introduction of the Russian science, particularly nanotech nominations. The contest saw a great number of works highlighting modernization of secondary and higher education, electronic educational sources and the national competition "Teacher of the year".
The "Novaya universitetskaya zhizn" newspaper of Krasnoyarsk was admitted the best specialized publication. "Universitetskaya kniga" became the best special interest magazine. The "GlavSprav" reference guide turned out to be the leading specialized web source.
The "Moskovskiye novosti" newspaper and the "Elita Tatarstana" magazine (Kazan) became the top general interest publications, while the "Sibkrai.ru" newswire (Novosibirsk) was recognized as the best web agency in this field. The best TV and radio broadcasting companies highlighting a broad range of news were "Mariy-El" (Ioshkar Ola) and "Radio Prokopyevsk" (Prokopyevsk). "Tatar-inform" (Kazan) was awarded as the best agency delivering news on education.
The award for "The best material unveiling modernization in basic education" went to Mariya Agranovich ("Rossiyskaya gazeta"), Alexandra Shaforost ("Katun 24" TV channel (Barnaul)), Lyudmila Schegolkova (branch of the "Voronezh" FSUI (Voronezh)), Irina Goryunova (RIA Novosti).
The best contributors highlighting modernization in higher education were Evgeny Nasyrov ("Moskovskiye novosti"), Valeriya Galkina (the "Seym" TV and radio company (Kursk)), Irina Zarubina ("Radio of Russian association of visually challenged students and specialists" (Moscow)).
Finalists and winners were awarded by the Minister, editorial of the prominent federal publications, public figures, education experts and leadership of the major communicating agencies, including:

Lubov Duhanina, Deputy Head of the education and science commission of the Public Chamber;
Yuliana Slascheva, President of "Mikhailov and partners. Strategic communications administration";
