Russian senior pupils will study "The Gulag Archipelago"

By the order of the Minister of education and science of the Russian Federation Andrei Fursenko the obligatory minimum of content of primary educational programs on the Russian literature of the XX century is enlarged by studying some fragments of Alexander Isaevich Solzhenitsyn's novel "The Gulag Archipelago".
Previously studying of the creative legacy of A.I.Solzhenitsyn within school education provided reading the short novel "Matrena's home" when studying the literature course in the secondary school, and the tale (short novel) "Day in the life of Ivan Denisovich" when studying the literature course of the XX century in the 11th form.
Before approving the order of the Minister of education and science of Russia the obligatory studying of the novel "The Gulag Archipelago" was supposed at school on a profile level. After including the novel into the federal component of state educational standards of secondary (full) general education, the studying of the novel is obligatory for all Russian senior pupils.

On September, 4, 2008, the Ministry of education and science of Russia sent to Russian schools Methodical recommendations on widening the study of creative legacy of A.I.Solzhenitsyn in the institutions of general education, which included recommendations on widening study of creative legacy of the writer at the lessons of literature, of the Russian language and speech development, and also the widening of study of the life path and historical and cultural legacy of A.I.Solzhenitsyn in the course of the native history of XX - beginning of XXI centuries.
