The names of 15 finalists of anniversary All-Russian contest "Teacher of year in Russia - 2009" are announced

On August, 29, at the gala ceremony at the theatre "Helikon Opera" the names of 15 finalists of the anniversary All-Russian contest "Teacher of year in Russia - 2009" were announced.

The "Fifteen" was defined after the results of the first round of the contests, in which 69 teachers took part in contests "An educational practice", "Class hour", "Methodical unification", "Parents meeting" and "Pedagogical council". Now the finalists will continue to compete in the second round and will demonstrate their professional skills at "Master-class" and "Open discussion".

On October, 3, five winners will be defined, the laureates of Small crystal pelicans. Five laureates will take part in the "Round table of educational politics" - a talk on the actual topic with the participation of the Minister of education and science of the Russian Federation Andrei Fursenko.

On October, 5, on the International Teacher Day at the gala ceremony "Big Crystal pelican" will be given to the absolute winner of the anniversary 20th All-Russian contest "Teacher of Year".

The contest "Teacher of Year" is a key activity for the system of education in Russia. During 20 years the contest has achieved a status of the most prestigious in education. The winners of the contest are not just the best in their profession, but also public leaders, who take an active part in forming the educational policy of the country.

All-Russian contest "Teacher of Year in Russia" has been held since 1990. The founders of the contests are: the Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation, the Federal education agency, the Union of workers of national education and science of the Russian Federation, "Uchitelskaya Gazeta". 2009 is twice anniversary: 20 years of "Teacher of Year", and 85 years of "Uchitelskaya Gazeta", the operator of the current contest.
