In Russian and Ukrainian schools lessons, dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Victory, will be conducted

On April, 9, 2010, in Moscow by the results of the third meeting of the Subcommittee on questions of humanitarian cooperation of the Russian-Ukrainian interstate commission the Minister of education and science of the Russian Federation Andrei Fursenko and the Minister of education and science of Ukraine Dmitry Tabachnik signed a final protocol.
"In view of certain reasons during several previous years many questions, which ordinary people of the two countries addressed to us, we were not able to decide, because mutual interest is necessary in interstate relations, only the Russian interest is not enough", - underlined the Russian Minister. "At the same time our universities, schools, scientists, specialists continued to cooperate. It means that the potential which exists in the interaction of our countries extends further than a formal level. It is much larger and wider, and is defined by with of our citizens to cooperate, interact, and work together".
"I think it is symbolical that just the subcommittee on questions of humanitarian cooperation was the first after a three-year break. It has become the first work structure of the interstate commission, which laid the positive foundation in the agenda of the meeting of our states' presidents. We did not have considerable disagreements on any issue, there was mutual supplement", - marked D.Tabachnik.
The signed protocol forms the agenda of work of the sub-commission. Among recommendations to sub-commissions - activating of efforts aimed at support of learning and teaching of the Russian language and literature in Ukraine and the Ukrainian language and literature in the Russian Federation.
To the most important issues the both sides also referred the question of conducting lessons of memory dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the two countries.
"Everyone should understand what a terrible war it was, what a great Victory it was", - stressed Dmitry Tabachnik. He also underlined that a revision of the Victory is inadmissible: "It is important that our schoolchildren understand that there was no third side in the war. There was anti-Hitler coalition from one side, and nazi and their satellites - from the other".
"What our countries experienced, the losses they suffered, all of these cannot go away from our life, to become a part of a "book" history. These informal lessons, with participation of people who went through the war, are directed to the aim that the memory about the war was vivid in those who studies in our schools today", - underlined Andrei Fursenko.
