07/10/2009

"New rules of admission to the institutes of higher education of the country will be approved until the end of October. At present on all discussed questions, except one, the decision is made", - said the Minister of education and science of the Russian Federation Andrei Fursenko at the board of the Ministry of education on October, 7, 2009.

The Minister marked principal innovations in the order of admission to universities: lessening the number of stages of admission to the universities from three to two; opportunity for universities to establish a minimal level of marks on not only profile but also on non-profile subjects; lessening the portion of entering students on target admission from 30 to 20%.

The only one position, on which there are still disagreements, is a possible limiting the number of universities, in which student will be able to hand in applications simultaneously. Andrei Fursenko informed that the final decision on this position will be made after coordinating with rectors community. In general, by the estimation of the Minister, "regardless of what decision on this issue is made, it will make a little influence on the next admission campaign".

As stated the Director of the Department of state policy in education of the Ministry of education Igor Remorenko, "the new order of admission to universities will have a long-term character, because it regulates the rules of admission not only for 2010, but also for the following years".

The project of the order was published on the site of the Ministry of education of Russia on September, 4. All interested people could send their proposals and notes to the ministry, which were studied with attention and regarded when elaborating the final text.
