
Andrei Fursenko held a meeting of the organizational committee on preparation of celebrating 300th anniversary of Mr. Lomonosov's birthday
On November 20, 2008, at the Ministry of education and science of Russia a meeting of the organizational committee on preparation of celebrating of 300th anniversary of M.V. Lomonosov's birthday in 2011 was held under the chairmanship of the Minister Andrei Fursenko.
By the Minister's estimation, who visited the Arkhangelsk region in August, "the regional authorities treat with seriousness to the preparation of celebrating the jubilee of the great Russian scientist. This attitude is in many respects a security of successful maintaining these actions".
The Governor of the Arkhangelsk region Ilya Mikhalchuk gave a report and informed the committee members about the course of implementing the planned actions on preparation of the celebrating. He pointed out that the federal budget gave 171.5 million rubles in 2008. Besides, within the realization of the short-term target program of the Arkhangelsk region "Homeland of Lomonosov" there were obtained 70 million rubles (including 68.3 millions from the regional budget).
In particular in the frames of the actions the elaboration of "University Lomonosov's Gymnasium" to teach and train the most talented children of the Arkhangelsk region, the building of the inter-university scientific library and dormitory for the students of M.V. Lomonosov Pomor State University, the developing infrastructure of Solovets archipelago, the maintaining of a final stage of 45th All-Russian competition in chemistry for schoolchildren, etc are provided.
Besides, the director of M.V. Lomonosov's museum of Anthropology and Ethnography Institute of RAS Tatiana Moiseeva addressed the meeting and spoke about quite a large volume of scientific works currently maintained and devoted to studying the tremendous heritage of M.V. Lomonosov. She proposed to discuss a question of establishing a M.V. Lomonosov's scientific and memorial center in Saint-Petersburg.
Summing up Andrei Fursenko said that a large work had been already maintained and a serious base for realizing all the plans and intentions had been created: "All state engagements will be fulfilled, and we will be able to give the celebration not only All-Russian, but international scale, appropriate for the personality and accomplishments of Mikhail Lomonosov".
The committee members decided to hold the next meeting in Saint-Petersburg, where Mikhail Lomonosov had spent most of his life.
